A fire that spread across 400 hectares in South Marlborough backcountry has been contained. Nine helicopter crews battled the fire at its peak. The helicopter crews had gone by Thursday evening. Six people had to be evacuated from the Clarence Valley area on Thursday night and a DOC hut at Goose Flat was damaged. Marlborough Helicopters sent two helicopters to help on Wednesday evening.
