Six Nations: Do England Have A Diversity Problem?

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone with a basic knowledge of rugby union to hear that it isn’t very diverse. The North is home to around 15m people, but the Rugby Football Union (RFU) has shown little interest in growing the game there. The RFU is not the only rugby union authority guilty of this. England aren’t even the poshest team in the Six Nations: 75% of Ireland’s homegrown players were privately educated, while Scotland has around 48%. One wonders just how good the England team could be if they made more of an effort to exploit the undoubtedly huge potential player pool open to them.
