Just four of the 10 KiwiBuild houses in Wanaka’s Northlake subdivision have been sold. In November, Kiwibuild announced families were in the process of buying seven of the houses. The six unsold houses — four completed three-bedroom houses and two completed two-bedroom houses — are now on the market at prices ranging from $565,000 to $645,000. The 10 Kiwibuild houses at Northlake were the first built outside Auckland and were initially offered in a ballot. Housing Minister Phil Twyford announced in September 211 KiwiBuild homes would be built at Northlake over the following two years to provide young first-home buyers with "a crack at affordable home ownership".
