Firstly, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the Western Pacific just happens to be that part of the world’s oceans that experiences the most warming due to climate change. This situation mirrors our predicament as sitting ducks for disaster; which makes sense for us to examine our defenses against natural disasters. Our climate change vulnerabilities could be classified into: 1) destructive wind, 2) flooding, 3) landslide due to rain, and 4) lack of water. This is certainly a conversation that is worth pursuing for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. We are no longer strangers to the monstrous economic dent any natural disaster amounts to.
