GEORGE TOWN: Two sisters fear they have been cheated out of more than RM100,000 after loaning the sum to a Datuk, who was the president of a reputable service club. “I was introduced to him through a friend last year and since he appeared trustworthy, I introduced my sister and friends to him. She said her brother-in-law had also registered a company with the Datuk with the intention of hosting a charity beauty pageant. Lina said the sum, coupled with several loans she and her sister lent to the Datuk after he claimed that he was in financial difficulty, amounted to more than RM100,000. Also present at the press conference was the Datuk’s private assistant, who wanted to be known only as Chung, 22.
