President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made a phone call on Thursday evening to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in which he affirmed Egypt’s stance towards the Palestinian cause. Official spokesperson for the Presidency Bassam Rady said that the two officials discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian arena. Egypt’s stance towards the Palestinian cause is unwavering, as it seeks to push the peace process in accordance with international resolutions and references, Rady quoted Sisi as saying. Abbas expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s relentless efforts and endeavors to support the Palestinian cause and reach a just and comprehensive solution. Peace Now, an Israeli group that surveils settlement activity, reported settlement construction in 2020 to be at its highest since 2012.
