CAIRO - 6 August 2024: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Tuesday a phone call from US President Joe Biden, during which they discussed regional developments and the tension in the Middle East. During the phone call, the two presidents reviewed the tension in the Middle East and the latest developments in the joint Egyptian-American-Qatari efforts to cease fire in the Gaza Strip, where they both stressed their determination to continue these efforts to de-escalate and restore regional peace and security. The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic explained that the call addressed current concerns regarding the expansion of the circle of conflict in the region, as President Sisi affirmed the Egyptian vision regarding the seriousness of the repercussions resulting from the continuation of the war in the Gaza Strip and its negative impact on the stability of the region, taking into account that "reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza is the main nucleus for restoring calm and stability in the region." At the end of the call, the two presidents agreed to continue intensive joint work to achieve a ceasefire and efforts to implement the two-state solution, as the main guarantor of stability and security for all peoples of the region.
