LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has counselled ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif to accept the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision as the country could not afford any mishap or emergency situation. The JI chief said that the disqualified prime minister had advised Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to accept his disqualification by the Supreme Court, and now it was the time that he did the same. Sirajul Haq further said that the SC’s decision was against an individual and not against the parliament or the system. According to the decision, an individual not qualified to be a member of the parliament could not be the head a political party. The JI chief, however, said that the Senate elections should be held according to the schedule in a peaceful atmosphere and democratic system should not be derailed.
