Traffic backed up in Richmond and on State Highway 6 after a sinkhole opened up on Main Road Stoke. A sinkhole on Main Road Stoke which has caused traffic chaos in Richmond and Nelson will close the road overnight. Traffic has been reduced to one lane to allow work on the side of the road, where traffic was originally diverted. The sinkhole caused major traffic problems for much of the day. Supplied/Nelson City Council The sinkhole appeared relatively small when it was first discovered, but was much larger underneath the surface.
