Traffic was diverted on Sixth Street/U.S. 77 south of the Big Blue River on Thursday afternoon after the driver of an SUV lost control and hit a communications pole. Nick Koch, acting captain for Beatrice Fire & Rescue, said BFR personnel were dispatched at 2:25 p.m. for a single-vehicle accident at Sixth and Green Avenue. Beatrice Police Department officers and Gage County Sheriff's Office deputies diverted traffic around the site of the accident while a work crew removed the pole from the roadway. Traffic was diverted along Tait Avenue and Green to Eighth Street to get around the area.
