New Zealand Defence Force staff have been deployed to boost the maritime border at Port Taranaki, which is part of measure taken across New Zealand. Port Taranaki has reported one seafarer visiting a doctor while the vessel was in port. The person was transported to the doctor surgery by a shipping agent, a port spokeswoman said in a statement. Any seafarer who needed to disembark before their quarantine period finishes needs to be cleared by the Taranaki District Health Board, the spokeswoman said. Last Sunday New Zealand Defence Force staff were deployed to work at Port Taranaki to assist the Customs Service at the maritime border.
