JOHOR BARU: Singaporeans will be able to hop on an MRT train in Woodlands to cross the border to Johor Baru by Dec 31, 2024. It is slated to greatly improve transport connectivity between Singapore and Malaysia, providing an alternative option for reducing congestion at border crossings. Also present were National Development Minister Lawrence Wong, Johor Mentri Besar Khaled Nordin, and senior officials from both countries. Singapore has invited SMRT Corp, while Malaysia has asked Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, whose subsidiary runs the Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT Line through Kuala Lumpur. The daily shuttle train service from Woodlands train checkpoint to Johor Baru will cease operating after the RTS Link opens.
