Rio Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu made a winning start to her campaign at the Denmark Open, defeating China’s He Bingjiao in straight games in the women’s singles competition of the $700,000 Premier Super Series badminton event in Odense, Denmark, on Thursday. Sixth seed Sindhu, playing her first event since the Rio Olympics, notched up a 21-14, 21-19 victory over Bingjiao. This is the fourth meeting between Sindhu and Bingjiao; the Indian had lost twice to the Chinese while her only victory came in the Malaysia Open in April. The 21-year-old from Hyderabad will next take on World No. Sindhu had reached the final of the Denmark Open last year.
