Sindh govt scholarships remain out of reach for many


Sindh Education Endowment Fund (SEEF) was launched in the year 2002 to facilitate students of Sindh unable to afford the cost of higher education, who secure merit-based admissions in public and private universities. However, the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, is yet to be added to the list of scholarships. This time Karachi University has also been granted membership in this committee, while the Sindh Education Minister presides over the decision making board regarding scholarships. Speaking in this regard College Education Department Endowment Funds Additional Secretary Faqir Muhammad Lakho said that SEEF scholarships are only awarded to institutions which apply for it. When probed about the exclusion of Karachi University and other universities from the scholarship, the additional secretary said that these scholarships are only awarded to professional institutions.
