KARACHI: The federal government on Tuesday instructed the Sindh government to initiate stern action against government officials whose names were revealed to be in the list of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) beneficiaries, Pakistan Today has learnt. In this regard, the BISP has forwarded a detailed list of more than a 100 pages, containing names of the beneficiaries with their CNICs and attached government department, to Sindh Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah so that he takes action against all corrupt officers. “Interestingly, around 938 bureaucrats of the Sindh government and their relatives financially benefited from the BISP,” sources added. When contacted, Secretary Services Navid Shaikh said that the administrative departments have been directed to provide details of the beneficiaries of the BISP. “The chief secretary will take any action after completion of the whole process”, he added.
