KUALA LUMPUR (March 5): The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) has closed the case against Sin Chew Daily over the publication of an incomplete image of the Jalur Gemilang. The decision follows a review of the investigation papers, after which the AGC classified the matter as no further action (NFA), according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. In April 2025, Sin Chew Daily published an incomplete illustration of the Jalur Gemilang on its front page in conjunction with coverage of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia. Although Sin Chew issued an immediate apology and attributed the mistake to a "technical error" during the design process, the police detained the newspaper's chief editor and deputy chief sub-editor for an investigation. Compound and settlementWhile criminal proceedings have been dropped, the daily's publisher, Sin Chew Media Corporation Bhd, faced administrative penalties.
