A ‘simple roof extension’ which a developer has been trying to build near listed buildings in Eton for three years has once again been turned down. Specifically, it would cause ‘less than substantial harm’, which sits between ‘no harm’ and ‘substantial harm’ on the official scale. They did not feel that the potential overlooking or purported need for office space in the area justified building this mansard roof. He said:“We all know demand for office space is decreasing incredibly rapidly, with people working at home. I can’t see any reason why we would want to put more office space into Eton High Street.
