Community volunteer, health-care advocate and longtime Liberal supporter Simon Lono has died at the age of 56. Lono, who also volunteered for years with the Lantern Festival, was a spokesperson with the Canadian Association for Rare Disorders. Simon Lono was a long-standing part of our organization, a dedicated volunteer, knowledgeable mentor, master lantern builder, & a dear friend. Lono was a board member and longtime volunteer with the Lantern Festival and was known for his large-scale lantern creations. Simon Lono was a tireless advocate for a robust, transparent democracy that served the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
