Sime plans to split operations - Business News

Sime Darby, he said, would be evaluating the implementation measures and indicative timelines to give effect to the decision to split the company. The current enlarged Sime Darby group, with a market value of RM60bil, was created in 2007 with the merger of Golden Hope Plantations Bhd, Kumpulan Guthrie Bhd and Kumpulan Sime Darby Bhd. Back in 2007 during the merger, Sime Darby Plantation Bhd (currently Sime Darby Plantation Sdn Bhd) had a combined landbank of 633,000 ha, of which 540,000 ha were planted. Sime Darby Property has access to some of the most strategic landbanks in Malaysia such as the Malaysia Vision Valley, Carey Island and the high-speed rail link, while the Battersea Power Station development in London has positioned Sime Darby Property on the international stage. The transaction is not expected to result in any major disruption to Sime Darby Group’s existing operations, the group said.
