Silver Ferns great Laura Langman embraces championship splitREBEKAH PARSONS-KING/FAIRFAX NZ Laura Langman has called on fans to embrace change as the trans-Tasman competition comes to an end. Though there is still resistance to letting Silver Ferns players compete for non-New Zealand sides, Langman hinted changes might incorporate extending the ability of individuals to move about as the sport edges towards professionalism. "I definitely think the ANZ Championship was a fantastic move for our code, our sport," Langman said. Langman's signing by the Swifts after last year's World Cup was heralded as the softening of restrictions on Silver Ferns players competing for Australian teams. Langman, an 11-year Silver Fern with 131 national caps – who joined the NSW Swifts this season – said the ANZ Championship had helped New Zealand netball close the gap on Australian dominance at international level.
