Significant rise in Covid-19 cases in Ireland, HPSC confirms


Stock imageThere has been a significant rise in the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the past week, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) confirmed. The latest figures, which accounted for 1,049 confirmed cases in the week to last Saturday are up 60pc compared to the previous weeks which accounted for 650 cases. 486 hospitalisations have been reported in the last week, which makes for a 56pc increase as opposed to the previous week. While three Covid-19 related deaths have been reported in the past week, no intensive care admissions have been linked to the virus. The increase of circulation of the Covid-19 virus has impacted vulnerable locations such as healthcare settings, hospitals, and nursing homes.
