2 remains up over Batanes although tropical storm “Siony” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Friday night, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday. In its 11 a.m. severe weather bulletin, Pagasa said Siony was moving westward to west-northwestward and passing over the sea off the southern coast of Taiwan within 12 hours. It was last seen at 10 a.m. at 50 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, Batanes as it moved westward at the speed of 20 kilometers per hour (kph), Pagasa said. “It is forecast to move generally west-northwestward or northwestward and may enter the PAR this afternoon or evening,” Pagasa said. Once it enters PAR, Pagasa said this may develop into a tropical depression in 48 hours and would be locally named “Tonyo”.
