It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction, said a Met office bulletin on Sunday. At 12pm on Sunday, the cyclonic storm was centred about 1,695 km south of Chittagong port, 1,620 km south of Cox’s Bazar port, 1,675 km south of Mongla port, and 1,635 km south of Payra port. The maximum sustained wind speed within 54 km of the cyclone centre was about 62 kph, rising to 88 kph in gusts or squalls. The sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre, said the bulletin. All fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay and deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution till further notice.
