Sign of the times as WH Smith name set to disappear from Gloucester city centre


More infoThe historic shop name WH Smith is set to disappear from Gloucester city centre as an application to rebrand the Eastgate Street shop is put in to the city council. WH Smith has said it remains on track to complete the sale of its UK high street chain to Hobbycraft owner Modella Capital at the end of the month. The deal, which was agreed in March and values the high street chain at £76 million, will see the WH Smith name disappear be replaced by brand TGJones. It reads: "Image Technique have been instructed to replace the existing signage for WH Smith, with the company TG Jones signage. The company, WH Smith, was created in 1828.
