Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has signed an agreement to build the 100MW Assela wind farm. Located between the towns of Adama and Assela, the wind farm will lie nearly 150km south of the capital. As per the terms of the agreement, SGRE will supply its 29 SG3.4-132 wind turbines and provide full engineering, procurement, and turnkey construction services. The wind farm will generate approximately 300,000MWh per year, powering more than 400,000 households in Ethiopia. In November last year, SGRE secured a contract from Berkshire Hathaway Energy Canada for its 130MW Rattlesnake Ridge wind power project.
