Iyer smashed five sixes and seven fours in an almost run-a-ball innings to remain unbeaten on 85. Rishabh Pant was at the other end with Iyer. At the end of the day's play, Iyer was 15 runs short of his ninth first-class hundred in 38 games. Iyer's innings rescued India A who were off to a rocky start in their first innings. Iyer and Pandya then tried to bring the innings back on track with a 52-run stand before the latter was caught behind off Bird's bowling.
