Showdown looms in Parliament as pro Uhuru-Raila MPs face off with Deputy President William Ruto’s allied MPs as the House makes final decision on the Coalition Bill. Pro-Ruto MPs are pushing a number of amendments to water down the Political Parties (Amendments) Bill, 2021 sponsored by Majority Leader Amos Kimunya. A number of Tangatanga MPs have lined up amendments to the Bill which will allow formation of a Coalition Party ahead of 2022 polls. Kieleweke MPs on the other side are opposed to any further amendments to the Bill. The Bill is now at the stage of the Committee of the Whole House.
