Never has the distinction between blue, green and red been as striking as it is in The Handmaid’s Tale. The blue garments are worn by the Wives and the green by the Marthas, who cook and clean. As for the vivid red cloaks with the white bonnets for caps, they are worn by the Handmaids, who exist for one reason alone — to procreate.
