Water with added vitamins and minerals has been around for years, but the added new twist and up-and-coming trend in smart water boosted with pH levels — high-alkaline water. To avoid this, in addition to drinking alkaline water, some people follow the “alkaline ash,” which, according to their pH levels, divides food into two groups — acidic and alkaline. And, there’s no science supporting the alkaline ash diet or high-alkaline water. And, there aren’t enough studies on alkaline water to draw conclusions, although we could cherry pick an eyebrow-raising 20-year old study on pregnant rats that saw adverse changes to muscles in rat pups whose mothers had been fed alkaline water. The alkaline diet suggests that protein should be restricted for ideal health and ideal pH levels, which is not true.”ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW
