If you’re concerned that your heartburn medication could cause dementia, you’re not alone. But a new study challenges those findings, calling into question whether there’s really any cause for concern (at least about dementia). But the JAMA Neurology study was the first large-scale study to claim a correlation with dementia. At best I think we can conclude that the evidence linking PPIs with dementia isn’t very strong, at least not yet. The latest study was published in the journal Gastroenterology.
