They play in a comparatively small but rabid rink, in what is technically the smallest Canadian NHL market. No, the country should not cheer for the Leafs if they are the last Canadian team standing, obviously. This country may be in a position where it has to decide whether to throw itself behind the Toronto Maple Leafs. But still, Canada is bigger than Toronto, and we are one nation when a hockey team wears the maple leaf, not the Maple Leaf. Now, I realize that pointing all this out is another reason for the rest of Canada to hate Toronto, and the Leafs.
