Police and the Armed Offenders Squad were called to the scene after a vehicle was reportedly shot at (file photo). Shots were reportedly fired at a vehicle on an Ōpotiki street shortly after midnight. Officers and the Armed Offenders Squad were called to Nelson St at 12.35am, "following a report of shots being fired towards a vehicle", a police statement said. Three men have since been arrested and charged with a range of offences, including possessing a firearm and assaulting police. A 23-year-old man was charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm, a 29-year-old man was charged with resisting and assaulting police and a 48-year-old man was charged with resisting police and dangerous driving.
