Tens of thousands of people were attending Lunar New Year festivities in Monterey Park, 13 kilometres east of downtown Los Angeles, when the violence unfolded shortly after 10pm on Saturday. Sergeant Bob Boese of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said a man entered a dance studio and opened fire. Jill and I are praying for those killed and injured in last night’s deadly mass shooting in Monterey Park. Our hearts go out to those who lost loved ones tonight in our neighboring city, Monterey Park, where a mass shooting just occurred. Monterey Park is home to one of the largest Asian communities in Los Angeles County and many were out celebrating the Lunar New Year.
