Shooting Near School in Santa Rosa, California, Leaves at Least 1 Injured

A gunman opened fire on Tuesday near a high school in Santa Rosa, Calif., injuring at least one person before fleeing onto the school campus, the police said. A 17-year-old victim showed up at a nearby trauma center with a gunshot wound to the abdomen shortly after the shooting at Ridgway High School, Capt. John Cregan of the Santa Rosa Police Department said at a news conference. The search for the gunman led the authorities to place Ridgway High School and two other schools — Santa Rosa High School and Santa Rosa Junior College — on lockdown, Captain Cregan said. “There was never an active shooter on the campus, the incident occurred off the school campus, there was no violence that occurred on the school campus.”
