The news that major changes for Roscommon Town Post Office are on the way has been met with shock and anger locally. An Post has announced that the post office, currently run directly by the company, will shortly become a contractor run post office. The spokesperson said that An Post staff employed at the existing post office could consider a number of possible options, including taking up employment for the new postmaster, when appointed, or being redeployed within the An Post network. “This post office has been part of the fabric of Roscommon Town for decades, providing vital services for many people of all ages. Cllr Waldron said he would be contacting An Post senior management to express his strong opposition to the plans.
