Suspension of ferry services due to poor visibility during winter are quite common on this route UNBMore than 300 vehicles are stuck at the ghat and waiting to traverse the riverFerry services on Shimulia-Banglabazar route has been suspended again due to dense fog. To avoid the accident, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities suspended all ferry services from around 10:30pm on Tuesday to Wednesday morning. Mohammad Faisal, assistant manager (commerce) of Shimulia Ghat, BIWTC, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune. He said the ferry services has been suspended to avoid accidents as the channel markings could not be seen due to dense fog. Previously, ferry services on Shimulia-Banglabazar and Paturia-Daulatdia resumed about 11 hours after it was suspended from early Tuesday due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
