Today, after years of relentless fan pleading and a third game currently in Kickstarter development by series creator Yu Suzuki, Sega has announced that remastered versions of Shenmue 1 and 2 are coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2018. Which is totally fine, as I think the original Dreamcast visuals still hold up relatively well. I'm sure this scheme mostly came out of the Dreamcast's lack of a second analog stick, so I'm looking forward to re-experiencing both titles with better input options. I absolutely loved the original Shenmue back in the day and even imported a PAL copy of Shenmue II from EB Games along with a boot disc once I realized it was never coming stateside. I also still have my original Xbox Shenmue disc, so it'll be a blast diving back into these adventures with modern quality-of-life improvements.
