Congress sources indicated that Rahul would take ahead party's campaign against drug abuse in the state. Chairperson of Punjab Congress campaign committee Ambika Soni said, "We will obviously want both Rahul Gandhi and Sonia ji to brighten the party's prospects by campaigning in Punjab. The Congress's draft manifesto too talks about the issue of drugs in detail, holding the SAD-BJP responsible for the problem. When Rahul raised the issue of drugs in Punjab in 2012, the Akalis accused him of maligning the youth of Punjab. Apart from the 'Punjab da Captain' and 'Halke Vich Captain' campaigns planned around Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh, the party plans to launch a series of other initiatives to connect with voters.
