'She was suffering too much': Montreal man who suffocated sick wife with pillow sentenced to two years in prison

MONTREAL — A Montreal man who suffocated his severely ill wife with a pillow has been sentenced to two years less a day in jail. Michel Cadotte was sentenced today, three months after a jury found him guilty of manslaughter in the death of Jocelyne Lizotte. The Crown had argued Michel Cadotte should be sentenced to eight years in prison due to the vulnerability of the victim and the violent nature of her death. They said Cadotte was in a disturbed state of mind and acted impulsively on Feb. 20, 2017, seeking to end his wife’s suffering. “She was suffering too much,” Cadotte testified.
