Shaw Festival firms up plans for 2021 season

The Shaw Festival revealed its casting Thursday for the upcoming performances, which begin outdoors on July 9 with “Charley’s Aunt,” the 1892 farce by Brandon Thomas. Mike Nadajewski is wild-card Lord Fancourt Babberley, whose turn in fancy dress just might save the day. “The Devil’s Disciple” and “A Short History Of Niagara” will be performed outdoors; “Charley’s Aunt” will begin there and is intended to transition into the Royal George Theatre in August or later. The Shaw Festival plans to present the 2021 season in Niagara-on-the Lake as per this revised schedule; however, performances will only take place if deemed safe to do so. Also in the lineup are:“Flush,” based on the novella by Virginia Woolf, starting previews July 10 and starring Julie Lumsden, Drew Plummer, Jonathan Tan and Jacqueline Thair;“The Devil’s Disciple” by Bernard Shaw, starting previews July 14 and starring Martin Happer.
