Shavendra requests PCR without quarantining for vaccinated migrants

Army Commander General Shavendra Silva today stated that he had requested the Health Ministry to conduct PCR tests on migrants who have received Covid-19 vaccines in the country they are arriving from, instead of quarantining them. “We made the request to the Health Ministry on Monday and they asked for a week to discuss the issue with the technical committee and will present their decision next week,” he told The Morning. He also stated that to reduce the congestion in quarantine centers, vaccinated migrants should be allowed to self quarantine at home for seven days, after completing seven days in hospital quarantine. He said that this proposal was also submitted to the Health Ministry.
