Shav Glick, longtime L.A. Times motorsports writer, inducted into NASCAR Hall of Fame

NASCAR announced on Tuesday that legendary Times motorsports writer Shav Glick has been awarded the Squier-Hall Award for NASCAR Media Excellence. “Shav Glick was a giant in motorsports journalism and the racing authority on the West Coast,” said Jim France, NASCAR chairman and chief executive. Glick wrote about sports for seven decades before retiring in January 2006. Shav Glick stands between racing legends Phil Hill, left, and Carroll Shelby at California Speedway in 2006. “It was the 1992 NASCAR season finale at Atlanta,” Glick wrote in his final story.
