Awlad brought 150 seedlings of the Kashmiri Kul from a nursery in Chuadanga last year, planting them on 30 decimals of land. A plant yielded about 50-60 kg Kashmiri Kul, he said. Awlad said that he was planning on making another garden of Kashmiri Kul by leasing 50 decimals of land. "Commercial cultivation of Kashmiri Kul will expand throughout the region," said Amir Hamza, deputy director of the DAE. He said that the Kashmiri Kul seedlings were brought to the district in late 2017, but it was Awlad who started its commercial cultivation for the first time.
