The mother, who is 55, was charged with breaching Dubai’s draconian cybercrime laws with abusive remarks she posted from the UK after discovering that her former husband, Pedro Coreia dos Santos, a Portuguese banker, had remarried. Her daughter was detained briefly but Ms Shahravesh was held for several days and threatened with a two-year prison sentence and £50,000 fine before being released.
