AFT Pharmaceuticals managing director Hartley Atkinson says he is disappointed to be downgrading the company’s guidance for full-year earnings. The sharemarket fell ahead of the Easter holiday break as investors rewarded Rakon for a positive upgrade and punished AFT Pharmaceutical for a downgrade. “The two diverging stories today were an earnings upgrade from Rakon and an earnings downgrade from AFT,” said Greg Smith, head of research at Fat Prophets. Meridian Energy rose 3.5 per cent to $5.58, while Contact Energy gained 1 per cent to $7.08. Apple, Microsoft and chipmaker Nvidia rose while financial, energy and materials stocks declined.
