Shakespeare’s First Folio still a hot topic 400 years after the Bard’s death

Shakespeare’s First Folio is likely the book that made the Bard, and yet it’s a sought after and rare find. RelatedDespite having seen several copies of the First Folio, Smith said she wasn’t prepared for the excitement of discovering a new copy. The most recently discovered copy was authenticated this spring by Emma Smith, a professor of Shakespeare studies at Oxford University. In fact, she thought it was so significant that she set out to digitize Oxford University’s copy of the First Folio in 2012. Shakespeare is top of mind at this year’s 12-day festival, which holds more than 600 events and attracts thousands of people.
