It was during the shoot of Jab We Met, Kareena and Shahid broke up and soon after that, she started dating Saif, whom she met on the sets of Tashan. Kareena further spoke about the breakup by saying, "Of course, then destiny had its plan and life took its own course. And this (relationship with Shahid) kind of took its course in which both Shahid and me went our separate ways. Kareena also talked about how her character Geet from Jab We Met was relatable to her life at that time. Because if you got to see how her life took a turn in the second half of the film, a lot of my life took a turn as well during the making of the film."
