DHAKA, June 22, 2023 (BSS)-Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin today urged the developed world to increase fund and technical support in conserving biodiversity. “At the World Biodiversity Conference held in Montreal in December last, Bangladesh raised strong voice to the developed world to ensure funding in this regard,” he told a workshop here. Shahab Uddin said the conference decided to establish a dedicated funding system called the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund for the developing and under-developed countries for biodiversity conservation. The workshop titled 'Consultations Workshop on Implementation of Global Biodiversity Framework in Bangladesh' was held at the Department of Environment (DoE) in city’s Agargaon area. Work on updating the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) earlier prepared in 2016 in the light of the Global Biodiversity Framework for biodiversity conservation will be initiated soon, he said.
