Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees edged ahead of Hrithik roshan's Kaabil on day 1 of the release of the two competing films. While cinegoers showed interest in both films, it was Raees that attracted larger crowds to theatres on Wednesday. People were seen lining up outside theatres hoping to get a ticket for Raees, and most shows were housefull. A 16-year-old boy sporting a Raees sweatshirt said, "The film was dragging a little bit but Shah Rukh khan gave an amazing performance." Kaabil, on the other hand, had lesser shows across theatres, but those who saw the film came out praising Hrithik Roshan's performance.
