Sh20,000 fine for not wearing mask still in place - Mutyambai

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has warned members of the public against not wearing masks in public places. The IG said on Monday, during his weekly Twitter engagement with Kenyans, that the fine of Sh20,000 for not wearing masks is still in place. “Being in public without a mask attracts a fine of Sh20,000,” Mutyambai said. He however said that police officers are to enforce this within the law and no one is allowed to use excessive force while implementing this directive. Mutyambai also urged the public to report or share instances where the police are using excessive force to implement this directive with his office, IAU, or IPOA for action.
